3 Day Tarangire & ngorongoro safari from Zanzibar

Your adventure begins early as you catch a flight from Zanzibar Airport to Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s iconic northern safari circuit. Upon arrival at Arusha Airport, you’ll meet your safari guide and start your journey to Tarangire National Park, a gem renowned for its elephant herds and dramatic landscapes. The park’s vast savannah, dotted with ancient baobab trees and seasonal swamps, creates a stunning African scene. On your game drive, you’ll be on the lookout for elephants, lions, zebras, wildebeests, and an array of vibrant birdlife. Tarangire is also famed for its spectacular termite mounds and, during the dry season, its dense concentration of wildlife around the Tarangire River. In the late afternoon, continue to the bustling village of Mto wa Mbu, nestled at the entrance to the Great Rift Valley. Here, you’ll check in to Motto Cottages for a hearty dinner and a restful night, surrounded by the welcoming sounds of rural Tanzania.

After breakfast, depart for the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s natural wonders. The world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, Ngorongoro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site—home to an incredible diversity of animals. Descend 600 meters to the crater floor for a full-day safari. You’ll traverse grasslands, acacia forests, and lakes teeming with flamingos and hippos. Expect to spot the Big Five: lions, elephants, rhinos (with a bit of luck!), buffalo, and leopards, as well as cheetahs, hyenas, and countless other species. Your expert guide will share insights about the unique ecosystem, geology, and Maasai heritage of the area. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater before heading out in the late afternoon for the drive back to Arusha. Upon arrival in Arusha, you’ll be transferred to Fair of Mount for dinner and overnight, allowing time to reflect on a day of extraordinary wildlife encounters.

After breakfast, your guide will transfer you from your hotel to Arusha Airport. As your safari draws to a close, take time to soak in the vibrant landscapes and memories of your wildlife adventure. Board your flight back to Zanzibar, and on arrival, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel—or, if your journey continues, assisted with your onward departure. Whether you spend the rest of your day relaxing on Zanzibar’s white sandy beaches or exploring Stone Town, you will carry home memories of roaring lions, towering elephants, and the timeless beauty of Tanzania’s wild places.
